The Academy uses the international benchmark of
'42in at 3 years of age' when registering
Miniature Highland Cattle
Temporary & Permanent Registration:
Any Highland that meets the Grade Qualification (below) and is the progeny of a registered
Miniature Highland (temporary or otherwise) is eligible for
Temporary Registration as a
Miniature Highland. This temporary registration expires on the animal's 3rd birthday;
at which time, if the animal has not been officially measured, the animal will
automatically revert to being a Standard Highland.
Any Highland that meets the Grade Qualification (below) and has reached it's 3rd birthday,
and the height of the top of its 'hook bone' is 42in or less is eligible for
Permanent Registration as a Miniature Highland. The application for permanent
registration must be accompanied by the Academy Miniature Highland Measurement Declaration,
which must be signed by both the applicant and a Vet who has measured the animal concerned.
Grade Qualification:
A female Highland must be of grade P1 or higher (ie: P1, P2, P3, P4, FP or F) in order
for it to be registered as a Miniature Highland.
A male Highland must be of grade P2 or higher (ie: P2, P3, P4, FP or F) in order
for it to be registered as a Miniature Highland.
No grade assessment is available for Miniature Highlands.
